Welcome to Iphone Complaints

Postby Caios on Thu Oct 04, 2007 1:14 am

Hello I started this forum because of something I noticed while doing some research. There are absolutely shit loads of people searching the internet for ‘iPhone Complaints’ but hardly anywhere for people to discuss things they like and dislike about the Apples new iPhone.

Using a website call WordTracker I found the following results:

Searches for iPhone 9,423
Searches for iPhone Complaints 3,321

Surprising isn’t it? Either people are searching for complaints to see what other think of them or they have complaints of there own.

So what are people chief complaints about the iPhone?

I have just looked at the iPhone in carphonewarehouse. My initial reaction is that it is a nice peice of kit.

Would I buy it.

Nah!
Reasons
1. Still too expensive
2. The display and more importantly the fonts are too small I would find this absolutely infuriating after a while.
3. The camera resolution sucks
4. I am not convinced that this interface is ideal for a phone - I personally would prefer to see this in a slightly larger format so that it became really useable - I could see iPalm as a must have. I would prefer to keep my current phone and all its features but with a little more battery life.

Verdict
:|
Not bad but no where near good enough to justify £250+ price tag

Hi Billy, welcome to the forum. :D

I went into carphone warehouse today too, had a quick look. Im undecided really, but the tariffs offered by o2 arent exactly generous. An unlocked iPhone would surely be the way to go.

I'll go back in this week and have another play around with one. ;)

If you are looking for a phone for business I would not recommend this phone. Just got it out of the box; got
connected. The sound is poor. Its difficult to pick up your messages, too many buttons, and steps to simply play
a message. Sound button doesn't seem to do much. This is more of a toy. If you want to store photos; I guess
its o.k. but if you want a phone that functions; this is not the phone. Touch screen doesn't always work. Its going
back.

Hi Bev, welcome to iphonecomplaints and thanks for sharing your complaints with us.

The touch screen doesnt always work! Thats a new one, my xda orbit never has problems like that.

Let us know what sort of response you get when you ask to return it.

Hi

I work for a large UK mobile phone retailer and agree with general comments made here. Good idea, but in practice not so good.

Why?
- Price
- Tariffs available
- Awful camera
- Touchscreen : sometimes unresponsive, gets covered in finger prints
- 3 things I like to do with my current phone: bluetooth an mp3 or picture, film on a night out and then send a picture to a friend. You can do none of these things. The latter you can, but then the chances of the receiver having their phone email set up is very low so sending them the picture how Apple want you to is pointless.
- And most of all having used one for an extended period there is a bigger problem. After the novelty has worn off your left very disappointed. This happens with any phone, but you have paid £269 for this.

To me its an itouch (great kit) with a phone added on.

Better of getting an itouch and a free contract 5megapixel phone.

The next iphone out in approx 2 years should be worth more of a look. I remember ipods were not brill when they first came out. But they have evolved fantasically. I think the iphone will have to go through the same process.

What astonishes me is the amount of parents getting their kids one ie an under 18 year old. This is a theft magnet and a delicate phone.

Where do I start with i phone?

Blue tooth
Only connects to the i phone head set which makes my car kit (bluetooth) useless

Text -
You can not forward a message or copy the message to forward on
You can only send a text to one personb at a time!!

Meda messages
You cant recieve them you have to log into the service provider web site and retrieve it

I complained to apple they said not to worry an update is due out soon (about three months LOL) but tey would add my comments to there development team!!

Sorry but for the so called best phone ever it falls short in many departments and of course by the time you realise you are stuck into an over priced 18 month contract with O2

I couldn't wait to get one, I was even prepared to lose the video option on my old phone (N95) and downgrade to a 2mp camera because I thought other features would more than make up for this...but in the 3 hours I have had this phone I already want to remove the sim and go back to my N95 - but I can't do this because the sneaky swines make you have a new special sim card that if you put it in another phone you can only make voice calls, you can't even text.

here's my list of why its crap - (i know all of these have been mentioned before but just wanted to add my voice)

Can't send text messages to more than one recipient
Can't forward received text messages to other recipients
Can't send MMS
Tiny on screen keyboard is so fiddly and slow to write texts and predictive text is really slow and you have to click on the suggested word to NOT use it
Volume of ring tones are too low (even when manual volume is on full, as well as settings)
Can't add your own mp3 as a ringtone - can only buy new ringtones from itunes (i had a really cool bit of an old song on my N95 but I can't add it to the iphone)
Hardly any personalization options
Can't get rid of unwanted home page icons (who wants the Stocks icon)
Youtube app says it needs Wi-Fi to connect even when wi-fi is on, and then does not connect
Battery life is rubbish

and all that is only after 3 hours of owning the ruddy thing... I'm a Mac user and love it, but the IPhone is really really rubbish.

Yeah
I actyually managed to take mine back before the 2 week return policy went out of date

The main reason was the battery life on an average day after 1 week it lasted 10 hours

The keyboard was a nightmare unless stood still or sitting so no quick texts on the move

The thng was bloody big and heavy

Got a nokia e71 as I need email for work, its perfect it lasts 2 days on a fulll charge and fits in my pocket and does not make me look like i am pleased to meet people

I reckon the 3rd or 4th gen will be good as with all apple stuff, just don't believe the hype and stick to a trusted mobile phone producer
I will be interested to see what happens in 6-12 months re battery life as you are going to have to have it permenatly plugged into a usb to use it
